Tam is a London-based performer and director. Alongside acting work in theatre (RSC/NT/West End/Propeller Theatre (dir Ed Hall); Film, TV and Radio, Tam has more recently been extending his career as a director, having been inspired in his approach to text and staging by working with Peter Hall, Katie Mitchell, Ed Hall, Rachel Kavanaugh and Paul Miller amongst others.
Tam is a collaborator in the rehearsal room and promotes the ensemble ethic in his acting companies, applying as much imagination, clarity, vim and pace in his productions as possible. . He is particularly interested in developing classic and contemporary texts in innovative, non-theatrical spaces (from car parks to kitchens) and to spaces within theatre buildings or surroundings that are not normally used for performances.
In Spring 2023 Tam directed a highly successful production of HAY FEVER in the main theatre at the Mill at Sonning and will return to direct TWELFTH NIGHT site specific in the bar area later this year
