Carys Wright

Carys is an actor and theatre maker based in London and born to Welsh parents. She has worked extensively with the award winning, all female theatre company Clean Break, including BELONG which Carys co-wrote and performed in at the Arcola Theatre and Lyric Hammersmith in 2019. She is currently developing a solo show HOW TO CATCH A BEAR with their support, along with mentorship and a bursary from multi award-winning theatre company 1927.
Before her time at Drama Studio London Carys studied Drama Studies and English Literature at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with a first in 2015. She worked with the acclaimed Rough Magic theatre company as part of Dublin Theatre Festival, and has also performed in the Dublin Fringe Festival. Carys is a strong mezzo soprano singer, and can play the clarinet to a high standard.
Upon graduation, Carys played Emily in the critically acclaimed and award-winning production of EMPTY BEDS at Edinburgh Underbelly then transferring to the Arcola Theatre, Galway Festival and The Hope Theatre. She went on to collaborate in many new writing productions including BRAINVILLE AT NIGHT (touring), 100 TRILLION (Southwark Playhouse/Old Vic Workrooms) and BARRED FREEDOM (The Cockpit).
Carys will make her television debut in BLACK NARCISSUS (BBC) airing Winter 2020.
